After forgetting to put my insoles back in after airing out, I realized I preferred the roominess of the boot better without the insoles in. Would that mean another width up would probably benefit me?
grahsamI couldn't find a pinned sizing thread, so here we go: I'm thinking about a pair of Roberts on the 55 last with a regular heel stack; probably just a basic quick ship. Regarding size, I am on the fence about a 8.5D or an 8.5E. I have a pair of Red Wing 1907 boots that are 8.5D that feel fine in terms of length, but even after a fair amount of wear over 2-3 months still feel tight in the waist and ball of my foot. Then, I bought a used pair of Truman 8.5EE cap toe casual last boots that feel just a little loose in the toe box, but I don't have to tighten the laces way down at all. They were owned for 6 months by someone that believed they were too small, so they might have stretched out a little. All the measurements on a brannock device and Nick's website puts me at a 8.5D. But I do like my thick socks and think I might want a leather insole since (I think) Nick's have NO insole. These would be office\desk driver boots, no outdoor work or anything. Thoughts?

Brannock size (men's): 7.5 C Ball: 9" Instep: 8.5" Heel: 12.5" Assuming I've measured correctly, this would put me at a 7C in Nick's I believe? When I'm looking at the fitting chart, that means the ball size matches but the instep and heel are a little oversized, but I'm assuming I'd just need to tighten the laces a bit. Or is it worth dropping down to 7B, assuming the ball will stretch out enough eventually?
